Terms of Service
Effective Date: 1/7/26
1. Overview
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Icarus (“the App”) and its associated source code, created by Dara Adedeji (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
By using, downloading, contributing to, or accessing the App or its source code, you agree to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
The App is a Valorant strategy planner tool designed to help players create, store, and share gameplay strategies.
Currently, the App runs locally on your device, with features limited to client‑side functions. No data is transmitted to our servers.
Future updates may introduce an online synchronization service or cloud‑based features (e.g., storing and sharing strategies, linking gameplay data). Changes to data handling practices will be announced before those features are launched.
3. License and Repository Use
Until the completion of the JetBrains Hackathon, the App and its source code are offered under a temporary, restricted license:
- You may view the source code.
- You may clone or fork the repository for the purpose of reviewing, learning from, or submitting pull requests to the original project.
- You may not redistribute, sublicense, or create independent derivative versions of the App or source code during the hackathon period.
- All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Following the hackathon, the project will be released under a standard open‑source license (to be announced), and these restrictions will be lifted.
4. Data Collection and Privacy
Currently, the App does not collect or transmit any user or gameplay data.
Any data collected by distribution platforms (for example, through the Microsoft Store for analytics or error logging) is governed solely by their policies, not ours.
Future versions that include online functionality may collect user or strategy data solely to provide those features. We will post an updated Privacy Policy before enabling those features.
5. Use of Valorant Data
The App may integrate gameplay data through Riot Games’ public APIs, in accordance with Riot’s Developer Policies.
This App is not endorsed by or affiliated with Riot Games, Inc. All Valorant trademarks and copyrights belong to Riot Games, Inc.
6. Contributions
By submitting pull requests or code contributions, you agree that your contributions may be incorporated into the project and re‑licensed under whatever open‑source license the project later adopts (with attribution maintained as appropriate).
You retain copyright of your contributions but grant us a perpetual, royalty‑free license to use, modify, and distribute them within the project.
7. Disclaimers
The App and source code are provided “as is” without any warranties, express or implied.
We make no guarantees about reliability, performance, or compatibility. Use of the App and its source is entirely at your own risk.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages or losses arising from your use or inability to use the App or source code.
9. Updates to the Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. Any significant changes will be announced via the project’s official repository.
Continued use or contribution after such updates indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
